Rock and roll band Kiss launches spirits brand in US

Drink It Up by Kiss is a collaboration between the band, their licensing agent, Epic Rights, and the award-winning spirits producer Brands for Fans.

Brands For Fans is a Swedish company operating in a global market, working in production, marketing and sales of beverages produced with artists, propagating a form of ‘liquid merchandise’. The company’s brands include Candlemass, Ghost, HammerFall, In Flames, Jonas Åkerlund, Judas Priest, Kiss, Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, Slayer and Sungen.

The range includes a Premium Distilled Cold Gin, Black Diamond Premium Dark Rum, Detroit Rock Premium Dark Rum, and new limited-edition Monstrum Ultra Premium Dark Rum, ranging from US$33.99-$159.99.

Paul Stanley, Kiss founding member, said of the band’s spirits brand: “From Monstrum to Cold Gin, we wanted each spirit in the portfolio to reflect the energy of our band. We didn’t just slap a label on and call it a day, we’re proud to say that each bottle in the Drink It Up By Kiss portfolio was carefully curated and each unique spirit has earned its name.”

Kiss Black Diamond Premium Dark Rum has a marked oak-character according to its creators, thanks to the rum’s 15 year barrel ageing process, leading to a slightly spicy finish. Kiss Detroit Rock Premium Dark Rum pays homage to the hit song Detroit Rock City and is bottled at 45% volume with a clear barrel finish.

Kiss Monstrum Ultra Premium Dark Rum is named after the latin word for ‘monster’. The rum is barrel aged over 14 years and has no added sugar or flavourings.

In tribute to the iconic 1974 KISS song and the band’s hometown of New York City, there’s the Kiss Premium Distilled Cold Gin. It is a product of the five-time distillation process, with classic gin tones like juniper, citrus, and herbs coming through on the palate.

The portfolio will be available to US consumers from 15 November across 25 states.

In other news, Rock legend Mick Jagger grabbed beer in local bar and no one realised it was him. He visited the Thirsty Beaver Saloon in Charlotte, North Carolina, the day before the Stones played a gig in the city.

“Out and about last night in Charlotte, NC.” Jagger captioned a photograph of himself sipping a beer outside the bar.

Remarkably, though, Jagger apparently went unnoticed while in the bar, despite people appearing in the background of the singer’s Twitter post apparently having tickets to the band’s gig the following night.
