A California-based brewery specializing in hard kombucha, hard seltzer, and beer brewed with probiotics will open in Roxbury in June. Flying Embers, which got its start in Ventura, California, and has taprooms in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, plans to open inside the former Backlash Beer Co. space at 152 Hampden St., almost directly in the center of the triangle formed by Lower Roxbury, Nubian Square, and the South Bay Center. (Backlash closed its taproom at the start of 2020 but continues to contract brew and distribute around the region.)
“[We’re] thrilled to be joining the local community, alongside the likes of Dorchester Brewing Company and Bully Boy Distillers nearby,” said Holly Mattson, Flying Embers’s director of operations for taprooms, via email.
