Hospitality sector calls for certainty about 1 May reopening

Belgium’s hospitality industry and its suppliers, such as brewers, are asking for more clarity about the possible reopening from 1 May, as preparations take about a month. As the Consultative Committee’s so-called four-week “Easter pause” is threatening the reopening aim for bars and restaurants across the country, they are asking for concrete plans. “We are now getting all the tap and technical installations ready for use,” Peter Buelens of Royal Swinkels Family Brewers – the brewer of Palm, Rodenbach and Cornet – told VRT. “We learned a lot from the first lockdown. If the bars were to open on 1 May, the tap systems will already be ready for use.”
